ISO 14001 Environmental Policy
As far back as the mid-seventies, the potential impact of our industrial activity on the environment has been increasingly brought into question by our management.
Although a large part of our activities comprise the recycling of non-ferrous metals, itself contributing to a more environmentally friendly society -
there are inevitably certain environmental effects tied to such industrial activities.
As far as Affilips N.V. is concerned, these are mainly in the areas of air pollution, waste products, noise, energy and external safety ; and, to a lesser extent, waste water, odour and vibration.
Affilips N.V. strives to exist in harmony with the environment.
The company wishes to achieve this through :
- the development, implementation and maintenance of an environmental management system ;
- economically justified investments in the best available technologies.
Environmental management forms an important part of the general working policy of Affilips N.V..
With all the activities the company undertakes, the following principles will be observed :
- to comply at least with all current and future legal requirements
- the reduction of the environmental impact of the company to a level that is acceptable to humankind and the environment, specifically based on preventive environmental management
The most important action points are :
- prevention of waste generation
- waste that is unavoidably generated will be separated and reused or recycled to the best of our ability
- aim at a continuous decrease of the environmental effects
Specifically, we will attempt to realize this through :
- the further reduction in the extraction and consumption of groundwater
- the further elimination of the contaminants that are present in emissions to air and water
- the prevention of the generation of excessive noise
- economically, socially and ecologically justified management
The environmental management system will offer a basis for the determination and evaluation of the environmental objectives and targets.
Each employee has their own responsibility within the environmental management system and will cooperate to the best of their ability towards the realization of the objectives.
The management entrusts the Environmental Manager with the responsibility of maintaining the environmental management system in cooperation with the Quality Manager,
and initiating in consultation with the Managing Director actions of improvement to this system.
